There'll Be No More...

This is my story, based on the song 'Tears in Heaven' by Eric Clapton. For WC41

Chapter 1

There'll Be No More

It's been 2 weeks since my cousin was murdered. She was the only person I had left. No more family. No more friends. She was a bundle of joy, my cousin was. She had beautiful azure eyes. Her cheeky smile was never taken for granted. Her auburn hair flickered in the cool breeze. Her lover had just proposed to her. It was the happiest I'd seen her since forever. That's when she was shot. As her smile faded, and she fell limp into her lover's arms, the tears began. From me, from her mother, from her lover. But now, I know, there will be no more tears. No more pain. Because my cousin is safe now. Safe from any more harm. Now, she is in heaven, where she deserves to be. The only safe haven. Only now, my beautiful cousin is okay. She is in the safe hands of god. That, I am thankful for.

Her funeral struck everyone with an underlying sense of sadness. Although happy times were remembered, they were covered in a layer of sullenness, like a coat of dust on an ancient table. Everyone felt deeply saddened by this event.

Now, her grave stands before me. the cool wind blows through my hair. I take seat beside her grave and I pick up the guitar that stands innocently beside her headstone. The lyrics come as easily as the chords did, so many years ago, when my mother died.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?
Ill find my way through night and day
Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven...

Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please...begging please

Beyond the door there's peace Im sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven...

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven

I finish the song with the last note being strummed gently. As the final chord rings out of the instrument, a single teardrop lands on the body of the guitar, and one tear turns into many more. Those tears stayed with me. All until my final breath. There'll be no more pain, there'll be no more sorrow. And there will be no more tears, in heaven
