Sexism - My Opinion •Rant/Reflection•

My opinion of sexism is very strong, and you may not give a flying duck sticks, but it's my opinion so yeh.
Erm, enjoy I guess.

Chapter 1

✖Sexist people✖

Okay, so as I said, this is kind of a rant embedded into a reflection. Here goes.

On Friday, so a couple of days ago, I was sitting with my friend, Jessica, at lunch time at school and we were sitting with the bunch of year 12 friends we had. (We're in year 9). Anyway, we were somehow on the topic of; school subjects, when one of the guys there, I don't know his name, but he said that he thinks that fashion is fun. Everyone laughed, but I got really pissed as he genuinely looked like he was growing a feeling of sadness when people laughed. It was then I said something;
"You honestly have no idea how sexist that makes you all sound"
After that they all dropped it and we went back to our conversation, still on the topic of school subjects. After about 10 minutes, all the guys (since Jess and I are mostly friends with guys) were asking what subject we want to do in year 10, so we told them. Jessica's four subjects (two each semester) were: Dance, Music, Fashion and Home Ec. The boys said that her picks were cool. Mine were: Mechanical Engineering, Japanese, Music and Manual Arts. Next thing I know, I'm being told that I'm a girl, so I can't do the first and last subject and that I'll have to pick different ones. Excuse me?!?!!? I didn't know wanting to pick my own subjects that I feel interested in, needed a frickin' dress code.

I've watched the news a lot lately, and in my country, Australia, there's been a lot of sexist people doing sexist things just to get more money out of the government blah, blah, blah, I don't care about facts and figures. I do, however, care about the fact that most women in the society that I live in everyday are confined to being hairdressers, nurses, teachers, midwives, childcare-workers, and most men are confined to having jobs such as; An army worker, a navy cadet, a doctor, a house builder, a carpenter, a truck driver, and it strongly annoys me to think that to be the opposite sex to whatever the sex is that's required for the job you want to do, is not allowed.

My sister, for example; she's decided that she want's to be in the army, and I fully support her because that proves that women can do things they want to and not have the government hot on their tracks pestering them about whether or not they're good enough for that job, when in fact, most of the women could be better than the men at that particular job.

And the guy that I seen about dying my hair today (Sunday), he was a professional hairdresser (and hot may I add). Anyway, I actually talked to him for a bit and asked him why he wanted to become a hairdresser, he replied with, and I quote; "Because I wanted to rebel against society and do my own thing without any judgmental assholes around to judge me" What a great human being he is. But I had to leave after that so I'm sorry to say I can't tell you more.

Anyway, back on subject. Sexism is getting to me, sexist people are becoming more a more frequently produced, so all I'm saying is please, bring peace to this world, man ✌✿☮
