Long and Quiet

Chapter 1

Long and Quiet

by: Marfabu
It's been a long and quiet month since you locked the door,
You threw away the key when you did your other chores.
I know that I was at best a bore and my love was not a score,
But I want you back here in my arms to mend the heart you've torn.

It's been a long and quiet year since you left me here,
My heart still hasn't mended but I won't shed a tear.
They told me to get over you oh they told me to move on,
But I can't get back off the ground while your love is gone.

It's been another loveless day since you turned your back,
You took your love and placed it in the suitcase carefully packed.
I still sometimes call out for you when I close my eyes,
But I will wake to an empty bed and memories of goodbyes.

It's been another loveless week since you walked away,
The pain has been in mind on a constantly skipping replay.
You took my heart and ripped it out in hopes it would decay,
The love we had once shared has now silently been slayed.

I've stopped expecting calls from you since I know you just don't care,
The love we once shared is now broken beyond repair.
But still I can't get over you and let you slip my mind,
You're going to be the death of me but I'll let you kill me now,
If you can just say "I love you" one last final time.

~~

In all honesty there was nothing in particular that inspired me to write this poem besides my slight experience with forgotten love. You'll hold onto it until there's no hope for it leaving no hope for you. Refusing to let go because it'll hurt you more than anything else in the world to know that they're not coming back. I suppose that's the worst type of torture.
