I need at least three comments to continue. Enjoy! :D
It all happened fast and yet so slow. Fast because there was, absolutely nothing I could do about it. Because nothing was expected. Slow because the process was painful and I wanted it to finish.
But before it finished, everything was fire and pain.
White fur sprouted out of my body. My bones crushed together painfully. My body got smaller. My legs and arms grew shorter. I had a muzzle and paws and a tail. I was no longer laying on the tabletop. I was standing on all fours.
I opened my mouth to speak, to ask what was going on, but only a whine came out.
What's going on? What is this?
I looked around the room looking for help. Everyone was frozen. They were staring at me in shock. Mrs. Greene stood in shock, watching me. She was no longer standing at the front of the room as she had been a few seconds ago. Instead, she was standing five feet away from me. I caught a smell radiating off her in strong waves. It smelled like... like fear.
I realized, my senses had sharpened. Around the room, I smelled fear, shock, and awe. I saw everything much, much more clearer. I could see beads of sweat on my teacher's neck, who was now stepping away from me slowly. I saw tiny dust motes dancing around, moving faster every time someone breathed out.
But along with those sharp senses, came fear of my own. Every nerve in my body screamed out Danger! Get out! But I didn't. It was ridiculous. I mean I've known these people for almost two years! But no matter how much I tried, I couldn't shake the fear away.
I backed away and bowed my head, shaking it. I whined again.
'New, are you?' Asked a voice in my head. It was a male voice.
'What's happening? New?' I thought. 'Am I speaking to myself? Please tell me that I just fell asleep in class.'
No, you're not sleeping. And no, you're not talking to yourself. Said the deep voice.
What's going on with me? I thought to myself.
'Get out of there. Now. I'll help you and tell you on our way.'
'To where?' But there was no response.
I looked up and turned, looking at the door. I felt someone behind it. The door opened and my head snapped up. A girl walked in with a piece of paper in her hand. She froze when she saw me. But I didn't. I reacted just as my instinct had told me to before. Run!
I jumped off the table and ran out the still open door. It felt odd. I was running on all fours. I felt off balance... and yet not at the same time.
'That's what happens when you're a wolf.' Said the deep voice.
There was a wolf standing still, waiting. It was standing by some bushes in front of me. It's fur was gray and had a bit of white. It's eyes were brown. The wolf seemed slightly larger than me. It had more muscle too.
'Yes.' The voice said, and the wolf in front of me nodded.
I stepped back confused. Another whine.
There was silence.
