UPDATED: Story from 21/3/13: I am converting to Satanism [read]
Things have really been starting to develop lately, especially in my life. That's what I would like to talk about, so if you don't like posts about people turn back now. I know people are going to have a lot of different opinions on this and that's okay.

I've been a Satanist one whole year today, and it's still not going to change now.
It started off when I felt I was part of a religion. I just didn't know which one. I decided to look in to different ones like Christianity and Buddhism. Then I started researching deeper, finding ones like Satanism.
After finding Christianity wasn't me, nor Buddhism, I researched in to left-hand paths more.
Satanists are not evil people, they are very good people with good morals and intentions. They are independent and they use logic. They use Satanist as a symbol and do not believe in Satan himself.
Satanists are either agnostics or atheists. Some Satanists actually call themselves "i-theistic" because they still do technically believe in a God. We do NOT sacrifice animals or harm little children. Hopefully that will clear up a lot of stereotypes the media portrays us to have/be doing.
I used to have a link to the Official Church of Satan Satanic Rules page but I know some of you might feel a little uncomfortable going on there (like I do with godhatesgoths. Even though I know it's a joke page, it still annoys me).
The only thing stopping me is that God and Satan are two sides of a coin. You can't have one without the other and the existence of God just doesn't made sense to me, therefore I don't actually worship Satan.
If you are close to me / have been close to me, you will know that I do a lot of research. I am not one of those people who will stand around and ask people who don't know what something is because I am straight to researching it. It stops people getting in to fights because they thought something stereotypical about that subject.
Another thing I want to clear up is "Satanism" is not the same as "Devil Worshipping". "Devil Worshipping" is sometimes teenagers who are trying to shock their parents by killing animals or even something serious like a child. These "Devil Worshipers" are poseurs.
Now "Theistic Satanists" are the ones who worship the devil, and know what they're doing.
This YouTube user (https://www.youtube.com/user/VenusSatanas) is a real theistic Satanist and if you're interested, you can go and watch some of her videos. I find her interesting, but it doesn't really help me considering I'm with a different part of Satanism.
Satanists are actually followers of Anton LeVey, he wrote "The Satanic Bible" in 1969. He died the year I was born (1997). Satanists are individuals who are independent. I love how they all make logic sense. Satanists are very intelligent and it links in with my life literally. I am a member of the Gothic subculture, the Gothic subculture is quite an intelligent subculture (not including the few bad eggs, and not including poseur goths or babybats). Goth represents beauty, patience and individuality. Satanism represents beauty and individuality also. By no means I am I saying that people who are Goth should become Satanists because you can get Goths of all religions. This is just me, and me only (unless it's you? XD). This is what I believe and this is how I want to live my life.
I've actually told my parents and my step-dad panicked about it for a bit because he saw my Satanic Bible but I went in and talked to him about it, so he's fine with it. It's probably forgotten, but he hasn't said anything. I told my mam and like when I told her I'm Goth, she completely accepts it and doesn't mind as she is an atheist herself.

I approve of it. I did know what real satanism was but I always found myself annoyed by those who believe all Christians are like those from the Westboro Baptist Church or like those from the Middle Ages, which is strange considering that I've never cared much for religion.Some of them thought the bible was a literal interpretation, which isn't. It annoyed me that instead of living life they just preached like the preachers they hate.You're the respectful sort of person, so it's all good. :)
I see. I don't believe that all Christians are completely over the top, you can get some who take it too seriously but then again you can get some Satanists who take it too seriously. I'm not hating on them, that would be unfair since I have a huge passion for music and they might just have a huge passion for their religion. :)

The reason why I didn't research this myself is because I was sure that google would suggest some fake site with a picture and the sound of someone screaming popping up on my screen.

Even though I won't be changing religion anytime soon, it looks like you changed for a very good reason. And I think Satanists sound very interesting.

I just think it's a little strange...I can see worshipping a different God, but why devote yourself to the person who is supposed to be the epitome of evil?
I totally respect your religion, though. It sounds quite interesting.
It's not actually devoting ourselves to him. It's LaVeyan Satanism which is worship of yourself as you are responsible for you own actions between good and evil. Satan is merely a symbol of strength, liberty and intelligence etc. There are theistic Satanists though, who do actually believe in Him.
