Loving with Eyes Closed
Samantha Riggins has been blind since birth. She has long since come to terms with this, and chooses to look at the bright side of life. Ryan Anderson has always been a rich player, someone who makes fun and never takes life seriously. When these two meet, what will happen? Will they be changed or will they just cause sparks to fly?
this is for Writing Contest #15, so wish me luck! :D
You're such a player, Ryan.
I grinned and waved at Caleb and Kyle as I slammed the door of my Mercedes-Benz shut.
Caleb and Kyle caught up with me as we walked towards the school, both slapping me on the back.
"So, you and Mia broke up, eh?" Kyle grinned, winking at me.
I shrugged, my face set in a smirk. "She was way too clingy. I couldn't do jackshit while stuck with her."
Caleb chuckled, shaking his head as we walked through the doors of the prestigious Kingston Prep High School. "You ow me fifty bucks, Kyle."
Kyle sighed, pulling a fifty-dollar bill from his wallet and slapping it into Caleb's hand as we walked towards our lockers. "You couldn't make a relationship last longer than three weeks, Ryan? Caleb's gonna bet me outta house and home!"
I rolled my eyes as I put my combination in- 27-03-37. "We all know that's not going to happen, Kyle. You've got too much money for that."
"You never know, it could!" Kyle laughed loudly as he grabbed his calc book, drawing stares from girls in the hallway, some of whom began to visibly salivate.
"So what's the new dish on the school, Ryan?" Caleb asked, slamming his locker shut with his books in his hands.
In case you were wondering, I'm rich, as are Caleb and Kyle and all of the kids at Kingston Prep, which my dad is the principal of.
"Apparently we're getting a new girl here." I smirked as Kyle's eyebrows shot upwards until they had nearly disappeared into his hair.
"What's she look like?" he asked eagerly as we walked through the crowded hallways to Mr. DeLoney's classroom.
We passed a gaggle of sophomore girls who were staring at us avidly, fixing their fly-away hairs and make-up hastily.
"I've only seen one picture of her, and she was wearing sunglasses, so I didn't see much of her face." I replied, smirking at all the attention I was getting. "But dude, her body is smokin' hot."
Kyle pumped his fist in the air excitedly. "Hell yes! She's mine, you fools, you can't touch her!"
I rolled my eyes at him. "Yeah right, Bradford. May the best man win, I always say. And I have a feeling whoever it is will win for sure."
Caleb groaned, putting a hand to his face. "You guys are awful, you know that? Maybe the girl won't like either of you!"
"Yeah, sure, that's coming from a guy who's taken!" I laughed, giving Kyle a high-five.
A short girl with shoulder-length black hair caught up with us then, twining her fingers through Caleb's.
"Speak of the devil." I grinned and winked down at Olivia, who rolled her eyes even as she blushed. "Don't be late, lovebirds!"
"Yeah, save the sex for the party next weekend!" Kyle laughed as we walked into Mr. DeLoney's classroom, which was full of seniors and some juniors who were lucky enough to have calculus first period. Not.
Mr. DeLoney rolled his eyes at Kyle's comment, leaning back in his chair, sporting designer jeans and a dark blue long-sleeved oxford shirt.
"Morning, Mr. DeLoney!" I grinned, waving at the teacher.
"Good morning, Ryan." Mr. DeLoney shook his head, smiling as well.
"Ryan, can I talk to you?"
I looked down to see Mia in front of me, her face red and puffy, her brown hair no longer soft and silky, now greasy and string, making her look just plain unattractive.
Why did I even ask her out to begin with?
Oh, right, I'd heard she was a nice bang.
"Mia, I already told you, it's not going to work out." I stated firmly, pushing past her to sit in my seat at the back with Kyle.
"But Ryaaan..." she whined, following me as tears began forming in her dull grey eyes smeared with hastily applied mascara. Kyle was grinning in his seat beside me, looking extremely entertained.
God, she's so fvcking annoying. Doesn't she know a lost cause when she sees one?
"Mia, it's done! Get a hold of yourself and get the fvck out of my face!" I snapped, my patience growing thin.
Mia looked at me for a second and then burst into tears, grabbing her bag and running out of the room.
"Thank God." Kyle sighed, running a hand through his expensively-styled brown hair. "Now you don't have to worry about her sitting next to you. When's that new girl coming?"
I rolled my eyes as the bell rang, students rushing into the classroom so as not to be marked late. "Keep your pants on, Bradford. It's Friday, right? She's not coming until Monday."
Kyle groaned as Caleb came in with Olivia, the two of them sitting in front of us. "You're such a player, Ryan." Olivia shook her head at me, a light smile on her lips.
I grinned and winked at her. "Ah, you love me anyways."
"Shut up, Anderson." Caleb pretended to glare at me, putting his arm around Olivia's waist. "You try and take my girl away and I'd have to kill you."
I tossed my head back and laughed loudly. "I'm not stupid, Caleb, nor do I have a death wish. You two got nothing to worry about."
As for other people...that's another topic entirely.
