This Is Fall

Chapter 1

This Is Fall

Crimson curls in from the north
Eating up
The sounds of green
The yellow whispering flames
Flicker briefly
Then they catch and spread
Growing hotter
And more brilliant
Dancing down the leaves
Licking up
Summer's emerald envy

The air grows thin
With chills
Of ghost-hands lingering
On our cold-bitten skin
Gray skies roll in
Disguising the blue
Choking out the heat
Goodbye Summer,
This is Fall
And I do believe
It's my turn to play
