Technically, all fingers connect to the heart, since all veins interconnect and become larger veins and arteries to reach the heart.
Infants are born with kneecaps, just not solid ones. They're made of a 'cartilaginous material' that will only ossify, or become solid, in later years. They form in about the fourth month the baby is in the womb, but don't show up on X-rays very well until they do ossify.
