Chapter 3

But I'm hoping that the gates...

"You lied to me," Seph whispers. The wind bites the back of her neck and the cold freezes the tip of her nose. Her eyes wander to see that Hades' realm is dark. The only light is from the ghostly shadows of the dead. Shivers crawl up her spine as she moves away from a dead, but crawling, hand. She desperatly returns her gaze to Hades. "Take me back. Please, take me back." The tears that she is crying freeze onto her face, making her skin feel tight.

"I can't. You went willingly." Seph's eyes widen as she shakes her head. She knows that he is telling the truth, but she can't accept it. She backs away from Hades, but his frozen hands are still attatched to her waist and hand.

"Let go of me," she states directly. Hades pauses, yet releases her. She raises her hand to wipe away the frost formed around her eyes. Her teeth chatter and she wanders off into the unknown. She has no idea where she is going, but she keeps on moving forward.

That's also when she notices that her foot feels fine, as if it was never twisted in the first place. She then remembers that this is a whole different realm. Whatever has happened to her in her life on Olympus doesn't matter in Hell.

"You're going in the wrong direction..." Hades advises the young goddess, "You are headed towards Tartarus, which is even worse than being here, in the Plain of Asphodel." She turns around to face Hades and she feels her dress whip against her bare legs.

"I'd rather be trapped in horror than stay here with you." Hurt drowns Hades' face, but Seph doesn't care. He tricked her into coming down here.

"If you want... we can try the gates, to see if they will open up for you."

"Why should I believe you? You already told me that they won't open," she calls him out.

"They won't, but isn't it worth the try? Since I am so horrible to be around. Since you happen to hate me so much." Now, Seph feels guilt as the pit of her stomach drops. She walks over to Hades and stops in front of him. She cups her palms against each other and moves her mouth to blow into them. Seph closes her eyes and warmth blooms against her skin. When she opens her hands, she isn't surprised to see a purple hyacinth, the flower of apologies. She hands it out to him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I don't hate you... but I just want to go home." Hades reaches out for the flower, but when his fingers touch it, the flower withers. He sighs out a breath, but takes her hand and transports her to the gates.

At the sight of it, her heart speeds up with hope. She speeds to the door and tugs on it, only to find it locked. She looks for a keyhole, but there is none.

"If someone else can love you as much as I do, they may come here to take you back," Seph hears Hades notifies her, "Otherwise, once you are in, there is no way out."
