Poems from the Top of My Head

Chapter 3

Destruction

Suppose the sky went dark for a day
The sun, eight light-minutes away, shut off
Disconnecting us from light
From heat
From comfort
From summer
And everyone was blind and cold
Hearing the pitter-patter of the rainfall
Bumping shoulders with strangers that you’d normally wish to avoid
Crying, “HELP!” at the subtlest slip
Confusing spoons and scissors and causing destruction
And causing hopelessness
