Madeline's POV

So far in my life, more than what I've wanted was to be a photographer. I'm starting out small, but some day, I'll make it big. I figured if I can't make an acting career, I might as well take pictures of beautiful sceneries and whatnot. My mom thought that it was a crazy obsession, that I should go for "the big bucks". That must just be her New Jersey side talking.
I was sitting down in the living room, looking at all the pictures in my camera. It was mainly sceneries I've found around here, but they weren't too special.
My mom said, "You can't spen you're whole life being a small town photographer. I'd rather have you act."
I half-laughed. "Are you just trying to make me famous so you can share the spotlight?" Sometimes we joke around, but I don't think she always knows when I do. I guess I am that good at acting.
"I've been meaning to tell you something, Maddie. Since you always seem so stressed out, I figured we should go on a vacation. How does California sound?"
"But that's where all the celebrities are. I'm not one of them, I'm not pampered the way they are. I'm used to this small, little town we live in, and I might always be stressed out, but it's something I'm used to."
"See? That's the side of yourself you've been showing. California will bring out your energetic, bubbly side of you that we all love. Besides, you might make some friends. If you seem happy there, I might consider permanently staying there. I just want what's best for you, Madeline."
I nodded. "Okay, I'll go. I'm taking my camera, though. When are we leaving?"
"Tomorrow morning. The earlier, the better." I hated the accent my mom had. I didn't get it from her, I have a regular accent.

I went upstairs and packed my bags. I don't think I'll be able to get used to all the razzle-dazzle that California brings. I'm not all glitz and glamour, I'm boho and plain.
I don't want California to change me, because I'm perfect the way I am.
