Zak and the Wolves

At the age of 20, he's not expecting to find something new, something not with wolves, something human, some kind of.... love. Had he believed in love?

Chapter 1

Welcome to the Wilderness

There are some things you can't help but become apart of. For me, I consider myself a descendant of wolves. I never really was a normal boy, but I guess all boys aren't normal in their own way. But, I didn't really care much for the city life with my mother and step dad. I was like my real dad. We loved the wilderness. That's why Mum was taking me to northern Wisconsin to see my dad instead of staying in Chicago for a whole other summer.
"You sure this is what you want to do for the summer, Zak?" Mum asked me one year when I was twelve, going on thirteen. "'Cause you can always change your mind and come back to Chicago and-"
"Mom, this what I want, okay? I want to visit Dad. Plus, I want to see the wilderness. I wanna know what it's like."
Mom nodded. "Okay."
I sighed, and looked out the car window. Obviously, she wasn't too keen about me staying with my biological father.
As soon as Mom pulled up to the drive of Dad's cabin, I wasn't expecting for it to be pretty big. As I stepped out of the car, wearing a black T-Shirt, tan khaki shorts, and my hair sticking to the front, I glanced around the place. Tall trees surrounded the area, birds chirped, and the air smelled like fresh pine.
Mum came to me, handing me my things, and said, "Okay. I'll let you go up to the house by yourself. If you need anything, or wanna come home, call me, okay, honey?"
Nah, I don't think I will, I thought to myself, smirking. I was already in love with the wild.
"'K, Mom," I nodded. She grinned, gave me a hug, and then went to her car. She got in, started it, backed up, and pulled away. Then, I turned back to the cabin.
Well, this was it.
Welcome to the Wilderness.
