Chapter 4

Time to face the music

Justin’s P.O.V.

“Justin please get off.” She gasped.
I retreated without complaint, knowing it had nothing to do with me.
It hurt to think she had been such a lively girl and was now reduced to someone who couldn’t help but worry.
She was now in a sitting position and perched as if any second she was gonna bolt.
Slowly I sat down next to her knowing the next few hours were going to be painful.
The DA was going to have to ask her questions about everything that had happened.
“Did you sleep well?” I blurted out wanting to disable the awkward atmosphere.
“Umm… kinda. I had some nightmares but nothing major.”
Emily looked like she had wanted to lie instead of tell the truth.
“Oh.”
I mentally smacked myself.
Of all the times to get tongue tied.
Yet I never get tongue tied.
I’m Justin Bieber.
“Thanks for buying me clothes and soap.” She said.
I noticed then her damp hair.
“How did you know raspberry is my favorite?”
“I just picked out what my ex-girlfriend used.”
Emily’s eyes widened.
“Oh. I’m sorry for bringing it up.”
Was it that noticeable that Selena had hurt me a lot when she called it quits?
“Justin, we gotta get ready for the … interview.” Ryan called from the front room.
An irritated look crossed Emily’s face when he said this.
“It’s not an interview. It’s an inquiry.” She muttered.
She stood to leave and give us our privacy.
“Hey.”
I waited till she looked at me.
“hum?”
“I’ll make you smile before we get there I promise.”
“Okayy…” Emily blushed.
She had a nice blush.
What?!?!

R: Dude what is up with you? She’s like 3 years younger than you.
Cr: I have to agree with Ry here.
C: You guys, give him a break. There have been plenty of times when you dated girls way younger than you.
J: I’m just trying to do what’s best for her.
R: And falling in love with her is?

I had no answer and I hadn’t thought my feelings were that obvious.
I pulled on a white t-shirt, black skinny jeans, which I sagged (of course),and my brand-new purple supras.
I left the guys still trying to figure out what to wear.
They act like such chicks sometimes.
Opening the door I saw Emily staring out the window.
She looked surreal just sitting there looking at the rain clouds that weren’t there yesterday.
I tried not to make noise but she still heard me.
Emily tried to cover up her flinch before smiling at me.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
Awkward silence.
“Sooo…”
“So.”
“Yeah… I got nothing to say.”
I laughed and sat next to her.
“We still have about an hour before Scooter comes and gets us.”
“Okay.” She said.
I noticed that her body tensed and the color drained from her face.
“You didn’t do anything wrong.” I tried to soothe her.
“I know I didn’t. I just don’t want to have to relive it.”
“Why don’t I take your mind off it?”
“How?”
“I’ll ask you a bunch of questions.”
“Okayy…”
“What kind of music do you like?”
“Rock and metal.”
It didn’t surprise me but I wondered if she ever listened to my songs.
“Are you a Beliber?”
“Oh Hell no!”
She blushed and then said,” I listen to your music but I’m not into you that way if you get my meaning.”
Hummm.
Interesting.
I wonder what way she is into me.
No!
I can’t make a move now.
“Okay. Fav pizza.”
“Pepperoni.”
Well I know what we’re having for dinner tonight.
I was about to ask Emily another question when a knock came at the door.
I got and opened it to see Scooter.
“It’s time.” Was all he said.
I nodded and turned to see Emily right behind me having heard what he said.
There was a look of determination on her face.
Her eyes were hard and knew she would only say what was required from now until this was over.
The light I had seen this morning was gone.
Time to face the music.
