Religion (No, it's not a rant. It's actually a change in me, so please read.)

Well, I read a few portions in a book today in study hall, and it really made me pause for thought. Here's why.

Chapter 1

A Change

I was sitting in study hall today, reading a good book entitled "Cry Wolf" by Patricia Briggs. Yes, it's a werewolf book, and it's the first in its series titled the "Alpha and Omega series." If you wish to start reading this series, feel free to. I'm loving it so far!

Anyway, I'm going to tell you some of the passages that I read in the book that made me stop and think:

She'd [Anna] taken a mouthful of food and had to swallow hastily to ask: "Are you a Christian? Or....?"
He [Charles] nodded. "Like Balaam's ass, I am. Besides, as a werewolf, you know there are other things in the world - demons vampires, ghouls, and the like. Once you know they're out there, you have to admit God is present. That's the only possible explanation of why evil hasn't yet taken over the world and enslaved the human race. God makes sure that evil stays hidden and sly.

For those who do not like this, please don't stop reading! I have more to say, and I think you'll like it!

"Balaam/s ass?" she muttered to herself, then caught her breath. "Balaam's ass saw an angel. Do you mean you've seen an angel?"

He grinned." Just one, and it wasn't interested in me...but still, it sticks with you." Gave him hope in the darkest night, in fact. "Just because God is, doesn't mean there aren't spirits in these woods."

Charles proceeded to also say,

"Samuel spends a lot of time trying to figure out where spirits fit into Christianity - I don't worry about it so much."

After this Charles said (and here's the punchline),

"Most spirits are more friendly or unfriendly rather than good or evil."

BAM.That hit me like a rock, and got me thinking hard. Sure, I believe that God exists, but who's to say that the other gods and goddesses and what not don't exist as well? They're all superhuman beings, beings so powerful we could never comprehend their full power and glory. As Charles said, spirits are either friendly or unfriendly, not good and evil. So what I think is that God is just being friendly to me, but other gods and goddesses and what not just don't really like me for something I don't remember I did. But, after today, here is my conclusion:

I may not necessarily believe in other ethereal beings such as the Pagan gods and goddesses, but I now acknowledge that they do, in fact, exist.

That's been the problem with my religion the whole time. I accepted something and denied the other. I was being blind. There are numerous religions because they are all true and they all exist. We choose what we believe in, but I believe, in reality, that they all exist. I'm not going to persecute or disagree by saying something doesn't exist. In fact, I don't even know if I'm going to disagree with other religions at all. What Charles said really hit home to me, and now I really do feel at peace with myself. I hope that others out there who have a different religion than I do find peace with my as well. I admit, I was blind and even a little adamant in some cases, but now I believe that I see the truth. All religions are true, all of their Gods and Goddesses and what not all coexist together in harmony. It's just by Their grace that we are able to have free will to choose whom we believe in.

Maybe I'm some sort of like extreme Polytheist now, since I believe all of the Gods and Goddesses of all religions exist together. But this is really what I think. I'm sorry to those of you of other religions if I insulted or hurt you or anything else. I'm done with that. I was right, but you were, too. You are all my equals, and I'm sorry I took so long to realize that.
