Chapter 1

The Meeting

by: Pranky
The train whistled as it made it's way through the tracks. You look outside the window. It was all green. Trees everywhere. You sighed. You didn't know if you were ready for this whole Hogwarts thing. Your mother and father told you about it just weeks earlier, but you still felt nervous.

You were mad at your parents. How could they not tell you before? You gritted your teeth.

Will I ever have friends here, you thought. Will people like me? What house will I get in?

Your mind was filled with questions when you heard a little knock on the door. "Excuse me, I am Draco Malfoy." A boy who looked of your age, i.e. 11, approached you in the compartment. He had sleeked back blonde hair and dazzling grey eyes.

"So?" You asked, trying to sound ruder than you meant to.

He looks strangely at you. "You see," he said, "all the compartments seems pretty full, except yours. I was wondering if I could sit-"

"No," You said quickly. Believe me, you weren't that of a rude person. But the whole new school thing was making you nervous. You needed some time to be alone, to think.

"Whatever," he said, disgusted.

You kind of felt bad for letting him go. He seemed pretty cute to you. You decided to give him a try.

He was about to leave when you called back, "fine you can sit here."

He smirked. He actually was very cute. He came inside and hopped into the sit in front of you.

"So... May I know who you are?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"I am _____," you said.

He snickered. "What kind of name is that? It sounds so funny!" Draco said.

You stuck your tongue out at him. "At least it's better than yours," you said. "Draco... what does that even mean?"

He made a face. "Draco was the name of an Ancient Greek legislator," he said. "Its means unusually severe or cruel."

You laughed. "Well it does suit your personality, doesn't it?" You said.

He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, laugh as much as you want," he said. "But I warn you, _____, you are no less."

You were about to tell him to get out of your compartment when a lady showed up with a trolley full of sweets and chocolates. She stopped at your compartment. "Anything from the trolley, dear?" She asked.

"Sure," Draco said. He got himself some of the nice looking sweet. You ignored him. But the sweets looked so delicious, your couldn't help but drool over them.

Draco smirked at you. You knew instantly, that jerk is not going to let you have a single bite of any of it. You looked out of the window, fuming with anger.

"Here, have some," he said. You looked at him. His hand was stretched, filled with a lots of sweets. He was smiling. A nice kind of smile. A smile that made you realize what kind of person he actually was.

Your anger soothed down quickly. You took a handful and laughed. "Thanks," you said.

He grinned. "Don't mention it," he said.

You didn't speak for a couple of minutes after that. You were engaged with your thoughts. Thinking about your parents... you were mad, really mad at them. But at the same time, you missed them a lot.

"What are you thinking?" Draco broke your concentration.

"Oh..." you said. "You know, Draco, this whole Hogwarts thing is extremely new to me and-"

"It's new to every first year." He corrected you sounding oh-so-obvious.

You shook your head. "Not in that way," you said. "Two weeks earlier my parents said that I am a witch, and guess what, I didn't take that well. I didn't want to leave them, you see."

Draco shrugged. "Nobody wants to leave there parents. Its natural."

You nodded. "Exactly. And I am scared, Draco, that I might not make any friends here. That people might not like me."

"I like you," he said.

Your heart skipped. Your eyes widened. Did he really just said that he liked you? You gulped.

Draco noticed the change in your expression. "Wh-what happened?" He asked. "Did I say something wrong?" He looked kind of worried. You thought it was very cute.

You found his cuteness very comical and couldn't help but laugh. "No, not at all!" You said, shaking your head.

He sighed with relief.

"I like you too Draco," you said, "but if you continue to act as rude as you were before, other students might not feel the same for you."

Draco rolled his eyes. "Like you care," he said.

You threw a sweet at him. "Mind it!" You exclaimed, laughing.

He easily dodged it. Your throw was pretty weak. He laughed too.

You spent the time chatting and laughing with him. It was great to have him around. He seem to be pretty rude at first, but he was nice to people he liked. And he liked you. So did you.

You soon discovered that he wanted to get in Slytherin. You were not sure about yourself. But somewhere inside, you wanted to be a Slytherin too, because Draco wanted to. You couldn't understand this silly attraction.

You told him about your parents. He did too. It was a nice chat.

"We better change into our robes," he said after a long conversation. You nodded, but hardly understood what he meant.

"Hogwarts coming..." he said, grinning at you. You grinned back.

The train whistled.
