Chapter 2

In The Shreikng Shack

Authers note: I know its very diffrent from J.K's version, but if I want to make multiple, then it is what it is.

We began at eleven o'clock sharp. I watched in horror as Remus turned from one of my best friends, into a killing beast. I lened over and transformed myself into a mountin lion. Looking over, I saw a bear like dog, and a stag.

James trotted up to Remus, using his antlers to corall him near the Womping Willow that had been previously frozen. Remus ran under the tree and twords the Shreiking Shack. I chased after him, me being the first under the tree after Remus himself. Quickly looking over my shoulder, I saw Sirius and James. Clearing my head of all unhappy thoughts, I took a deep breath and looked forward to see Remus tearing ahead. I had to hand it to him, Remus had a great deal of self control for a werewolf.

I saw it getting brighter and brighter ahead, and I knew we were approaching the Shreiking Shack, the name given because of Remus. I could hear him howling, he had probably just bitten himself. I screeched at him, the noise I made while I was a mountin lion. I saw Remus turn at me and he bared his teeth. Sirius jumped infront of me, and growled furiously, but Remus wasn't done yet. Remus nipped at him, it haden't worked, but I could see where this was going. For three months now we had all been doing so well, that we had not been forced into a fight with Remus. I could tell that tonight, though, tha record would be broken.

I braced myself, ready to fight. Sirius growled and snipped at Remus until he was in a corner. I ran over to help, James at my side. James stuck his antlers at the werewolf. Remus didn't take it very well, he slashed James across his chest and sent him flying across the room.

I stod up, transforming back into a human. I grabbed the Wound Healing Potion that we kept just in case. Unstoppering the top, I silently prayed that James would be ok. After only one drop I could see the wound sizzling. James had not transformed back into a person, probably for extra safety. Remus was a lot more calm when he was around animals rather than humans.

I put up the Wound Cleaning Potion, and wrapped it in bandages. I wasn't the healing type, but I had learned enough for emergencies. James nodded to show he was ok and got right back by Sirius's side. I screeched at Remus to get his attention, it worked. Sirius and James ran back to the other side of the room where I stood, back in my animangus.

A few hours had passed by after the fight. Remus had eventually stopped trying to get back in it, deciding to hurt himself instead. I hated it. Absalutly hated it. He would howl, looking blood thirsty, wanting to cause pain. He couldn't help himself. He was what he was. After looking for someone to hurt, finding nobody, he would sink to tearing into his own skin. Then we would take turns getting him to stop.

I could see out of a semi open window the sun rise outside. Remus turned back into a human, as would we.

"Are you ok?" I asked him, looking worried.

"Yeah, as good as I can be." I looked at one of my best friends in the world. He looked tired, hurt, and pale.

"Well, lets head to Madam Pomfrey." James said, he looked as tired as Remus.

"Don't you think we should tell her now?" I asked, as I usually did after every 'werewolf night.'

"Actually, I agree this time." Sirius said, I looked at him absalutly shocked.

"Really?" I asked, just to confirm.

"Guys, I really don't want anyone else to know.." Remus said. How could he not tell her? Surely I wasn't the only one to notice that Madam Pomfrey was getting suspisious. She must think we bully him.

"Mooney, it's about time." James cut in this time.

"Fine. Do you think she might have an antidote?" Crap. I hated it wen he asked that. He fully well knew that there was not an antidote to being a werewolf.

"Mooney, you know the answer to that." I replied, not meeting his eyes. I didn't like crushing his hopes, but I didn't want them too high.

"Your right, Cliffs." Remus said.

"He's a what?" Madam Pomfrey looked horrified. I couldn't blame her, when I found out, well if Sirius wasn't there I would've ran off screaming. Sirius usually comferted me, my best friend out of all of the guys.

"Werewolf." James said.

"For how long now?" Madam Pomfrey asked while rumaging througha cabinet.

"Two years. I was bitten by Fenrir Greyback in second year." Remus looked ashamed.

"And you lot knew the whole time and didn't think to tell the nurse?"

"Well, yeah." I admitted, "the only teacher who knows besides you is Professor Dumbledore."

"Alright. Well read this sentence here," She was holding a book in her hands, her pointer finger above a sentence.

" '/There is only one known antidote for werewolves. The potion is very complicated and takes a long time/.' Yeah, what about it?" I asked.

"Well, I have a bit of it. You take it the week before, and no transformation the next moon." Madam Pomfrey explained.

"Really?!" Remus asked. He looked suddenly less weary.

"Yes, but have to constently make some, it isn't a long term thing."

"But you can make it?" Remus asked.

"/I/ probably could, I suppose. Only if one of you are willing to learn, I'm not going to be doing this for the rest of your life."

"I'll do it." James said, he had a determined look on his face. It was a serious expression, rarely was that ever place upon his face.

"Good, take this then. Save it for your next moon." She handed a vial to Remus, he took it and placed it in his cloak pocket. Checking her watch, Madam Pomfrey added, "good Heavens! Look at the time! Get to class! Go on!"
