Chapter 1

The Beginning

Seri
I woke with a start and a huge bruise coming up on my arm, immediately answering my thoughts on how I woke up so fast. I got up and turned my head in time to see my twin brother, Amaro, darting out of my room whilst my eyes watered from the light outside. I groaned and looked at the time, suddenly realising what day it was; my birthday. I smiled and made a mental note to get back at my brother, before making my way downstairs with my hair on all ends and my dressing gown half on one shoulder.
“Well, don’t you look like you slept well,” Amaro said innocently, with a smirk coming up on his face. I poked my tongue out at him and hit him on the back of his head when he turned around.
“Oi!” He shouted rubbing his head, “no need to be mean,”
“Ah, revenge is sweet,” I replied, setting down my cereal and starting to eat. My parents came downstairs holding presents in their arms, causing me and Amaro to run towards them in excitement.
“Now, I know–” Mum started before turning around at Amaro’s point. A huge brown and speckled owl was flying towards our kitchen window, before smashing into it.

Honey
I woke to the sound of and owl hooting outside my window. I jumped up and pushed the window open and my tawny owl Toomey fluttered in and perched himself on the end of my sisters bed. I shared a room with my older sister Bella.
I lived in a house with four bed rooms. One for Mum and Dad, one for Johnny and Luke one for Bella and I, and London gets her own because she is the eldest. I turned my attention back to Toomey who was now pecking at the wooden bed head. I reached over and untied the letter from around his ankle. I knew what it was.
I lived in an all magical family and had watched each of my older siblings receive letters like this one, their name printed in emerald green letters across the fragile parchment. I tore open the letter and read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, and International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Miss Lupin,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Yours sincerely,

Minervera McGonagall

Gigi
I sat on my stool in front of my dresser brushing my sister long, blonde hair, before I heard a voice calling me.
“Gigi! ze owls are here and you have a letter,” called my mum. I dropped the brush and sprinted out of the room, hearing the brush crash onto the floor behind me, and my sister’s yell out in pain. Ignoring her, I kept running before coming to a halt in our living room.
I squealed loudly as I saw a large white owl, perched on the windowsill.
On the front of the letter is my name printed neatly in pale blue with a blue emblem of the school I had always dreamed of going to. I squealed with delight once more, only to hear the grumpy voice of my older brother, and the loud thump, that told me he had made it downstairs.
“Jacques it is here! My letter! I can finally go to school with you,” I exclaim in delight. He groaned in response,
“When will I ever get peace and quiet with you at school?”

Seri
I ran over towards the window, opening it, and picked out the large owl from my flower patch. I set it down on the kitchen table and watched in silent awe as it ruffled it’s wings importantly (though staggering sideways, still looking dazed) and pointed its beak towards two thick envelopes tied to its leg.
I carefully untied the letters and the owl spread its wings and flew off, careful not to crash back into the window. I threw the one addressed to Amaro to him and ripped open mine, eager to find out why owls had replaced the postman.
It read:
HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, and International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Miss Hennessy,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Yours sincerely,

Minervera McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress

“What the...” I muttered, looking over at Amaro who looked just as bewildered as me. Mum was silently reading Amaro’s and when she stopped, looked...well just looked really, at the wall behind me.
I read over my letter again, before I heard a loud WHAM, and my front door burst open.

Gigi
I slipped on the pale blue silk dress; it hung well past my knees and fell loosely on my petite frame. I made a mental note to learn a charm to fix that (as soon as I got to Beauxbatons).
I placed my hat on my golden hair that fell in curls and smiled sweetly at my reflection. Today, I was going to Beauxbatons Academy, where girls would hopefully no longer be intimidated by my dazzling looks and boys would not stop and stare as I walked by.

I entered the sitting room and was greeted by the proud expression on my mother’s face. I spun around giggling until greeted by the unpleasant glares of my siblings.
To an outsider these looks would seem so foreign on their flawless faces, but since the morning the snowy white owl arrived, these expressions were permanently etched on their beautiful faces.

Seri
I turned my head quickly enough to get my second head rush of the day, and felt a large thing lift me up of my feet.
“I knew you’d get the letter!” the thing shouted, “I just knew it!” It let me down and I was suddenly staring into my neighbour and best friends grinning face.
“Good morning to you too, James,” I smiled at his sheepish expression. “A happy birthday would have worked just as well,”
“Oh yeah, I was planning on getting you a present with your school stuff,”
“My school stuff,” I said, “wait...so this is a real school??” James laughed at my bewildered expression.
“Of course it is, why do you think you can do strange things when you have strong emotions?” he stifled a laugh at my still confused face,” you’re a witch, Seri,”
Now I was my turn to stifle a laugh, before realising he was serious, “A witch? Me? Who in the world would make me a witch?”
“Don’t worry I’ve been asking myself the same question for the last ten minutes,” he said, grinning, before he turned around at the sound of more people entering the house, ducking instinctively as I took another swing at his head. James’s parents came into view at the kitchen door, smiling, as if they knew exactly what had just happened.
“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Potter,” I said automatically before realising, “wait are you both...Umm-”
“Witches and wizards? Yes,” Mrs. Potter finished for me, before turning to my parents who were standing flabbergasted at this new information, “don’t worry, we’ll explain everything,”
It took a while to understand everything, but we finally came to the conclusion that they were telling the truth.
“So, you will take Seri and Amaro to get their things at diagonal, diaga, what was it again?” My mum attempted to comprehend more new information.
“Diagon alley, and yes, we will also take them to platform nine and three-quarters to get the train to school,” Mr. Potter said kindly. They left us to figure everything out, before I finally went to bed, almost forgetting that I was finally eleven years old.
