Chapter 1

Leaving

by: Pranky
"I don't want to leave!" Natalie frowned. She sniffled a little. Her nose was total red. Mainly because of her too much crying.

I sighed. "We have to, Nat." I said. "We don't have any other choice!" I brushed my black hair back. They always keep falling over my eyes.

"B-b-but Gab," she murmured.

I patted her shoulders. "It's all going to be okay," I said.

My name was Gabrielle Stone, a.k.a Gab, and I was a not-so-simple 15 year old girl. And that was my older sister Natalie Stone, a.k.a Nat, crying her eyes out. You see, our dad had got this really big promotion. So we were transferring to Sacramento, California. But my drama queen sister Nat didn't want to leave. Well, I didn't actually blame her. A new start was the last thing we ever wanted.

I let out a heavy sigh, again.

I could see Natalie's green eyes getting watery again. "No, Nat," I said. "Don't cry. Please."

I hugged her. Even though Nat was the exact opposite of me, I really cared about her. I brushed her curly brown hair.

She sniffled.

There was a knock on the door. We were sitting in Natalie's room. And yes, you might have guessed it right, the room's walls were all pink. Girly kind of pink.

There was a knock again. "Come in!" I said.

Dad opened the door. He looked depressed, obviously. His face wore down some more when he saw his crying princess in my arms.

I nodded at him.

He sighed. "I know. I know this is hard for you girls. I know." He shook his head. "But we don't have any other options."

Nat burst into tears. I patted her slightly.

"But Dad, can't we just... just..." she was unable to complete the sentence.

Dad quickly approached up. He bend down so he could wipe Nat's tears. "Honey, don't cry." I didn't like it when dad was sad. He had blue eyes and black hair like me. People said that I looked a lot like my dad. On the other hand, Nat was the exact copy of mom.

Nat didn't stop crying. She kept on telling dad how she would miss her friends, her boyfriend and blah blah blah.

Dad looked at me, hoping to get some help. I just shook my head. It was impossible to stop Nat from crying, until and unless you give her what she wants.

Dad bit his lower lip. "Well... your mom gave me this idea that..."

Nat wiped her tears. "What idea?" I asked. I was curious. Mom always comes up with unpredictable things.

My dad tried not to make an eye contact with me, which made it sure that I won't like the idea. Great, I thought. Just great.

"You see," Dad said. "If you really don't want to leave this city, you could, you know, stay with Uncle Peter and Aunt Valerie?" He forced a little smile at the end.

"What?!" Me and Nat exclaimed in shock. Just, she was happy to hear it and I wasn't.

"No, no, no, no!" I quickly took over. "I am so not staying in that house!" Not that I hated Aunt Valerie and Uncle Peter, it was their evil kids I hated. Cousin Daphne and cousin Oliver. They were the devils. The evil spirits.

Nat looked up at me with her googly eyes. "Please Gab. Pretty please!"

I shook my head.

"If Gab denies it, than you can't live there alone either Nat." Dad said.

Nat gasped. "NO!" She looked at me. "Gab, please. I beg you Gab. Please. Please. Do this for your sister please. I would do anything, anything for you!"

I shook my head again. No way I was living with those devils.

Nat started crying again. I sighed.

Dad looked at me. "It's just the high school, Gab." He said. "I know you don't want to leave your life behind. So this is the only way. After you graduate from high school, you are coming back to us." He forced a smile.

I frowned. "I'll miss you dad," I said.

Nat stopped her crying. She gulped. "So, so, you're staying?"

I rolled my eyes. "What do you think, idiot?"

She laughed and hugged me. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

I looked at dad. He gave me the I-M-PROUD-OF-YOU look. It made me smile.
