Chapter 1 ~Ashley

I took my time going down the hall to my next class. There was honestly no point in hurrying. I wasn’t going to be late, and if I hurried when I got in the room I would have to endure the childish acts of my fellow classmates.
Truth is I hated my school.
I couldn’t wait to graduate; too bad I was only in the middle of my junior year.

Suddenly, someone grabbed my arm and I was thrown into something, well actually someone. I let out a ragged breath and looked up slowly. My eyes met the wide round dark brown and dreamy eyes of none other than Alexander Gaskarth. And I realized that his hand was holding onto my arm.
Alex was the one that pulled me into him…
Was this some kind of sick joke?

Furious and confused, I ripped my arm away from him and glared in his direction. He frowned. “You had no right to touch me!” I snapped at him, and I could see some people starring.

Alex smirked. “Chill princess, I just saved you from getting in the middle of an ugly fight.” He stated, nodding to a direction behind me. Slowly, I turned around. Two guys, they looked like seniors, were in the middle of slamming each other into lockers.

Alex was still smirking as I turned back around to face him. I can’t imagine how red my face probably was right now…I’m so stupid. I need to think before letting out more outbursts. This was too embarrassing.

“I’m sorry, umm thanks.” I said awkwardly looking down at my shoes.

Alex smiled. “No problem Carolina.” He said then patted me on the head, messing my hair up, and walked away.

I could feel my face burning with embarrassment and hatred. It was people like him that made my high school career so awful.
I took a deep breath and, now hurried, to class.

I took my seat next to my best friend Stella. She could instantly tell something was wrong. She didn’t get the chance to ask though, because I got to class right on time. The teacher started our lesson right away.

Class ended and most kids hurried out of the room; some lingered to wait for their friends. I took my time shoving my books in my bag; I could feel Stella’s eyes on me. I looked up at her, signaling that I was ready to leave.

“What’s wrong?” She asked, her expression showing complete seriousness.

“Alex Gaskarth.” I grumbled. Her eyes widened in shock.

“What do you mean?” She asked excitedly, a smile creeping it’s way onto her face. I let out a sigh, knowing exactly where this was going. Stella was basically in love with Gaskarth’s friend/band-mate Zack Merrick.
Alex and Zack were in a band with two other guys, Jack Barakat and Rian Dawson. The band’s name was All Time Low.
I had to admit they were pretty good. I had been to a few of their gigs. Stella had made sure of that. My parents didn’t know though, the reasoning for only going to a few of All Time Low’s gigs. My parents were very strict and hated the band, just by what they heard about them from other people.

Well anyway, Stella had a huge crush on Zack, which meant that anything that had to do with him got her wicked excited.
“Tell me everything!” Stella demanded. I was surprised she wasn’t jumping up and down with joy by the way her voice sounded and how excited she looked.

I gave her a quick eye roll, throwing my bag over my shoulder. I started walking ahead and jumped in on her explanation. She listened to me intently and I could see her hanging on every word. I think she was waiting for Zack to come into the story, but to her misfortune that wasn’t going to happen, because Zack was not involved.

“I think you’re over reacting.” She admitted bluntly to me. I frowned. “It’s not that big of a deal. So you flipped on him. Big whoop. No one probably even noticed, other than obviously Alex, if he was even listening to you.”

My eyes widened at her words. “If he was even listening? What is that supposed to mean?” I demanded, offended by her words. Does she listen to me when the conversation isn’t focused around her precious little crush?

“I was joking Care, chill honey. Of course he was listening, he wouldn’t have replied to you if he hadn’t been.” She reassured me. My anger boiled down, and I was calmer. “Right,” I managed to mumble, tucking a stray piece of hair that had been in my face, behind my ear.

“See?” she grinned.

“Can we go to lunch already? I’m starving.” I said, changing the subject.

“Of course!” She agreed, and again I knew what she was thinking. Zack. She would be able to see him in the cafeteria. She would force us to sit a few tables away from his just so she could stare at him like the little creep she was.

I sat down next to my friend Samantha. Stella grabbed the seat right next to me. She let out a loud over exaggerated sigh, right as I was about to say hi to my other friends at our table. I mentally groaned, turning in my chair to face Stella.

“What?” I demanded almost impatiently, I didn’t mean to sound so harsh, I just wasn’t in the best of moods at the moment. Stupid Alexander Gaskarth.

But, Stella did not even show a sigh of offence to my tone, like always she brushed it right off. She was pretty good about that kind of stuff, seeing that she often got picked on for the fact that she was a little over weight. So what? The girl liked to eat and wasn’t the biggest fan of athletics. She was still a very good person. People were just cruel.

“Zack…I don’t see him in here!” She replied frantically to my previous question.

I rolled my eyes at my best friend. And then, two approaching figures caught my eye. My breathe caught in my throat, and it seemed time was slowing down as the two came closer. My mind and heart were racing as one of them, flipped his hair out of his face, and I that moment his eyes locked with mine.
A smirk stretched out onto his face and then he winked at me as he walked away.

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts and make sense of what just happened. Time was back to normal, it seemed and Stella was gaping at me.
Oh god…she saw it, which means that that all really happened. Oh my lord.

“Did you see that!” She nearly screamed. A few of the girls at our table looked over at us, as if noticing our presence for the first time. Jeez, they must have been in one hell of a conversation.

“What?” Samantha asked curiously.

“Nothing, Stella is just over reacting like normal.” I answered, trying to keep my cool. Sam laughed and shook her head.

“Mmkay, whatever you say girls.” She smiled, but dropped it.

“Alex winked at you, and and and oh em gee! Zack was starring right at me!” She looked like she was about to pass out.

“Really? Oh wow.” I hadn’t seen that, and unfortunately. I had to admit, him probably starring at her meant nothing. I wasn’t going to be the one to tell her that. Oh lord no.

But I did know one thing; I needed to be careful around Alex. He was a player and I had no idea what he was doing with me right now. What his sudden interest was.
