Chapter 1

"This is your home for the next three months." my grandmother said as she opened the door to a two story white brick home.
I dragged my suitcase up the concrete stairs and entered the house. Even though it was light outside the house was dark. I had stayed here before so I knew what room I would be staying in.
I set my things on the bed after lugging it up the steep stairs. I had to admit this house was creepy. Im not kidding. This place would be perfect for a horror movie. Believe it or not this house used to be a mortuary. They closed it down because something bad happened here. Im not sure how my grandma got this place and Im not sure why she would want it.
I put my things in the dresser drawers and unpacked my suitcase. I heard a giggle behind me. I was the only one here, at least I was supposed to be.
I whirled around but I only saw the closet door. I put my hand on the door and turned the knob and yanked the door open. Nothing. Just clothes and old toys. Maybe I was hearing things.
It was getting dark so i raced downstairs just in time to see my grandmother grabbing her purse.
"Im gonna go out. You gonna be allright here?" she asked.
I nodded. She always went out at night.

After she left I grabbed something to eat. Just a sandwich. Nothing fancy. I climbed the stairs next to the kitchen and entered the bathroom at the top of the stairs. I flicked on the light and brushed my teeth. I saw a flash of white out of the corner of my eye.
I looked to see what it was. In the doorway stood a little girl around the age of six years old. She wore one of those long white nightgowns that they wore in the 1800s.
She smiled sweetly at me. Her long brunette hair brushed back behind her ears and her bright blue eyes shimmered.
I opened my mouth to say something, but she giggled and ran down the hallway. Her laugh echoed into silence.
"Wait!" I called running after her. But she vanished.
I was completely puzzled. I turned out the bathroom light and walked to my room at the end of the hall. I jumped on my bed and laid there. I stared at the illuminated street until my eyes started to close.
I was awoken by a loud thumping sound. I looked at my clock. 3am. I heard a clicking sound in my room and looked at the closet door that stood in front of my bed. The door creaked open slowly until it was opened all the way. I saw darkness then I saw the little girl emerge from it. She stepped out of the closet. She looked at me pleadingly.
"Please you have to help me." she searched my face.
She opened her mouth to say something else but something in the darkness dragged her back in and she screamed.
She screamed and cried for me to help. The thumping sounds grew louder as she struggled to get away from whatever it was that was holding her.
"Stop." I whispered. "Please stop." I curled into a little ball as tears streamed down my face.
As soon as it started it stopped. The silence became deafening as i stared into the darkness of my closet, fearing the worst. On the floor i saw the little girl pull herself desperately into the moonlight. She was covered in blood. Her white nightgown torn and stained with blood. One side of her face was swollen as she looked up at me.
She held her hand up to me. "Please, Help me." she cried weakly.
Before i could move she was dragged back into the closet and the door slammed shut.

I woke up the next morning unsure of whether that was a dream or not. I entered the hallway and was going to go downstairs to grab some breakfast. I stopped at the top of the stairs because I thought I heard something.
I felt something cold press on my back and the next thing i knew, i was flying down the stairs. As i tumbled in mid air the back of my head hit one of the stairs. I heard a snap and felt a second of pain before tumbling into darkness.

I woke up at the bottom of the stairs. I looked out the window. It was dark. How long had I been out? I wondered.
I saw the little girl standing in front of me beaming like nothing had happened the night before.
She leaned down and hugged me tightly. "Thank you for saving me." she said.
She pulled away, glowed brightly and then was gone. I sat there for a moment then stood up and walked back to my room. I am never coming back here. I thought to myself.
I walked into my room and saw that the closet door was ajar. I didnt bother turning on the light. I grabbed the closet door getting ready to close it when i saw a shadowy figure of a hand reach out and grab my shirt. It pulled me into the darkness of the closet as i heard the door shut behind me forever.
