Chapter 2

Well I hate you.

For most of the ride we sat in silence. Neither of us really needing to talk, and neither of us having something to say. That’s what worked great in our friendship, we knew the value of silence. We didn’t need to fill it with pointless babble.

My sister was the opposite.

She found our quite compartment about halfway through the trip and the peaceful silence was broken.

“I’ve been looking all over for you, Ariel!” She cried as she sauntered in. I groaned and I caught Blaise smiling at my response.

“I wasn’t exactly hiding, now were we?”

She ignored my comment and sat down beside me.

“I can’t believe you’ve stayed single here with so many cute guys! The seventh years are particularly yummy.” Her eyes showed the same hunger mien get when I want something.

“The two of you really are sister’s, you both get the same look.” Blaise commented, causing Michelle to blush a deep scarlet.

“She’s blood, bloody annoying though.” I shrugged.
“You’re more so! Always staying to yourself and Blaise! Branch out a little bit and talk more!” Michelle countered.

I chose to ignore her and instead I stared out the window, watching the pitter-patter of rain falling on the window.

Michelle continued trying to initiate a conversation between herself and Blaise. Blaise looked as if he wanted to murder someone and finally stops ignoring her to tell her to shut up.

When we pulled up to the Hogsmead station I finally get to say goodbye to Michelle as she must take the boats to Hogwarts.

Blaise and I stepped into a carriage and sat down on opposite sides, preparing to have silence but soon stumbled in Seamus Finnigan and Neville Longbottom.

“Mate, that’s so not true!” Seamus laughed. His smile immediately disappeared when he spotted Blaise and I. “Oh, sorry.”

“Why don’t we get the on another carriage, Seamus.” Neville suggested but the carriage lurched forward and they tumbled forward.

“Looks like you’re staying here then.” Blaise commented, looking them over.

“Ya looks like it. I guess I’ll just sit over... uhm...” Seamus starts looking at the empty seats on both sides. Neville sat on the same side as Blaise and as far aways as he could be. Seamus was still debating where to sit when I finally snapped.

“Oh just chose it a spot already!” I shouted.

“Fine then.” He sat down beside me. “Happy?”

“No, not particularly. I would rather you left.” I smirked at him.

“Well I’m not happy about this either!” Seamus complained.

“You should be, Finnigan. You’re sitting next to Ariel and neither one of us have jinxed you.” Blaise told Seamus.
“Well then, I’m glad of it.” Seamus glared at Blaise and then stayed silent.

The trip wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be. Seamus and Neville stayed silent most of the way and left Blaise and I alone. Seamus seemed somewhat comfortable here but Neville kept squirming in his seat.

When Blaise and I both sat down at the Slytherin table I thought we could finally have some time just to be friends but lady fate did not have the same plan.

“Ariel, you never did tell me what happened during the summer.” Draco came and sat on my other side.

“You never did drop dead.” I pointed out with a sneer on my face.

“We both know you were joking about that and just smile, sneering doesn’t suit you.” Draco put his hand under my chin.

“Take you hands off me, Draco. Take them off me now.” I glared at his hand.

“And what will you do if I don’t?”

“I’ll cruse you into next year.”

“And she won’t be the only one.” Blaise leaned over me to stare at Draco.

That made Draco back off, he left me alone for the rest of the meal.

Michelle was sorted into Slytherin but that was no surprise. I hadn’t really been paying attention during the rest of the sorting or during Headmaster Snape’s new speech. I ate my meal, now talking with Blaise about our summers. Mostly he talked about his. I didn’t really have much to tell.

After the feast the tables start making their way to their dorms but I forgot something and told Blaise I’d get it on my own. After finding what I was looking for I started to walk back to the dungeons.

“Ariel.” I turned around and saw Draco.

“What did I say about leaving me alone?”

“You can stop telling that story, your boyfriend isn’t here.” Draco caught up with me and started to walk by my side.

“I don’t have a boyfriend, Draco.”

“Don’t deny it, you and Blaise are dating. That’s ok though, makes this more fun.”

“Blaise and I are just friends and makes what more...” But I was cut off by a rough kiss.

Despite my struggles against him I couldn’t get away. He seemed to enjoy it more when I pulled away and would kiss rougher. My wand was in my pocket but Draco had my damn hands in his.

“Stupefy!” I heard a voice call and Draco was knocked out.

“Thank yo...” I turned around to see my savior and found Seamus.

“Your welcome, Ariel. You okay?” He asked.

“I’m fine Finnigan.” I marched off in the other direction but he caught my arm.

“You sure?” I jerked my arm away from him.

“Yes, I’m sure. Why are you bring kind to me?”

“Because you needed help. I don’t hate you, you know.”

“Ya, well I hate you. So next time, mind your own damn business.” I wanted to tell him more. I wanted to tell him how grateful I was for him helping me. That I didn't hate him, but I couldn’t he’s a Gryffindor. I had to hate him.
