Chapter 1

Welcome Aboard the Hogwarts Express

I snorted in disgust at the muggles passing by.

I found it amusing how they never seemed to realize what was right in front of their noses.

"What time is it, Ariel?" My younger sister, Michelle demanded.

I exhaled deeply. "For the fifth time, I do not know. But I assume we still have about fifteen minutes." I replied as we bustled towards platform nine and three quarters.

"We better," Michelle muttered under her breath.

It was her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and like the rest of our pure blood family, she was bound to be in Slytherin.

"Ariel!" I heard a voice shout, and turned to greet Blaise Zabini.

"Hello, Blaise. How was your Summer?" I asked curtly, joining him and leaving Michelle behind.

"Very good," was all he replied.

Blaise was a very peculiar Sytherin.

Like most, he despised blood traitors and muggle borns.

But unlike most, he very much kept to himself.

On the otherhand, so did I.

A reason why we got along so well.

"How is your mother doing?" I asked for conversation's sake as we lined up to board the train.

Blaise shrugged, though I could see there was something underlying his emotions.

I just nodded.

I wasn't one to pry.

It was silent as we found a compartment and we then sat down.

Before I could say anything, Pansy Parkison joined us.

I didn't enjoy Pansy's presence too much. I found her quite distasteful, actually. Very irritating.

"Hello, Blaise," she said, ignoing my presence.

"Parkison," he nodded before returning to his daily prophet.

She took a seat beside him and I look up, surprised. "Moved on from Malfoy, have you?" I sneered.

Pansy glared, but said nothing in reply.

A moment later she turned her attention back to Blaise.

"How is your mother?" She asked. I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes.

A moment later, the compartment door opened to reveal Seamus Finnigan.

I raised my eyebrows, as did Blase and Pansy.

Seamus flushed. "Wrong compartment. Sorry." He just the door and walked away, his blush more red than the stripes on his Gryffindor tie.

"Gryffindors," I heard Blaise mutter, annoyed.

The compartment door opened once again, and I exhald deeply, looking up at Draco Malfoy.

"Blaise," he acknowledged. Draco's eyes met mine, and a humourus glint formed in his.

"Ariel. How was your Summer? We should catch up."

I knew his intentions.

I rolled my eyes. "Drop dead, Malfoy."

"Malfoy!" Exclaimed Pansy. "There you are," she said, leaving Blaise and I alone once again.

Blaise shook his head, slightly smiling. "This is going to be a long year."

You're telling me.
