Chris Has Cash?!

At The Mall~

December 2. 11:11~

Carmen and I had been combing through racks of dresses for the past two hours. The Pretty Little Woman Store smelled like rotting cheese and an old, fat man's B.O. The walls were a mustard yellow and the carpet a moldy blue. The lighting in the dressing rooms made perfect spotlights on all of your imperfections. Acne-sufferers? Never entered the store. Girls who deal with stray facial or strange body hairs? Scream and run out of the store like no tomorrow. I'm just glad that I had none of those problems. I looked like I was airbrushed 24/7. Carmen always nagged at me how I have never had a single zit or enlargened pore. Anyway, the only good thing about this place are the amazingly low prices.

"How about this one?" Carmen asked. She held up a long, boring, black dress. I almost choked on my Wetzel Pretzel. She pouted. "It's not that bad is it?"

I laughed and hugged her. "Carmen, you look like a model. You could totally pull that off. But...don't you think it's a little...a lot...boring?"

She shrugged and put it back. "I guess." Carmen put the dress back. I was serious about her looking like a model. Long, blonde hair down to her waist; emerald, green eyes with purple flecks; long, thin legs and arms; skinny; and tan. "Let's go t..."

"Oh, if it isn't the prissy little princesses." I spun around, and in the doorway stood Chris and Kyler.

"Well, that explains the B.O. smell." I mumbled and leafed through the dresses.

"How about we join you two ladies?" Kyler said and put his arm around Carmen's thin shoulders.

She gave me a wery look. "We could always use a guy's oppinion..." Carmen said.

"You were just telling me to stay away from them and now you want me to shop with them?!" I whispered in her ear. She nodded. "Fine, but we're going to The Rose Dress. I can't stand this place." I said and flicked one of the ugly, barf green dresses.

"Yes, ma'am." Chris said. I walked out of the store and waited until Carmen "The Flirt" walked out with the guys.

The Rose Dress~

The walls in here were black and the carpet purple. The lights were flattering and it smelled like expensive perfume. The prices were a lot higher though. The dresses were beautiful. Carmen, Kyler, and Chris were on one side while I was clear on the other side. "Cora!" Carmen squealed. I jumped and apologized to another customer. I walked over and Carmen held up a dress. My eyes popped out of my head.

"Where's the dress?!" I touched the silky, blue fabric.

She wiggled her eyebrows. "I'm trying it on!" Then her and Kyler went over to the dressing room.

"She's hot," Chris said.

"She looks like a model. Understandable, she used to be one." I mumbled. I walked over to the dressing rooms and we all waited for her to step out. Once she did, Kyler did a cat call. I laughed and looked at her. "Holy Cheezits! Carmen!"

"I'm getting the dress?" She questioned with a big smile on her face.

"You're getting the dress." I said. She sqealed and hugged me. I pulled away and pointed at the mirror. She smiled and complimented herself. "How much is it?" I asked.

"Does it matter? Dad's debit card is paying." I smiled and nodded. "Okay, I'm changing out of this, and we're finding your dress."

I shook my head quickly. "No! Stay and observe yourself. I'll be fine." I hugged her again and then left the dressing rooms.

I looked at the price tag and placed the most beautiful dress I had ever seen in my life back on the rack. "Hey, don't you dare put that dress back. I saw the way your eyes lit up when you saw it. Go put it on!" Carmen urged. I spun around, surprised that she was there. She grabbed the dress, put it in my arms, and tried to push me to the dressing room. I sat on the ground and wouldn't budge. "Chris!"

"Coming." Chris came over and kicked my knee.

"Ouch!" I yelped. I could feel a bruise blossoming.

"She won't get up and try the dress on." Chris nodded as Carmen explained. He bent down, picked me up, and carried me to the dressing room.

"I'm not coming out!" I yelled.

"Fine! We'll meet you in the food court; but if you don't have that dress with you, I will beat you to death!" Carmen threatened. I listened as they mumbled to each other and each of them left.

I zipped up the dress and slowly walked out of the room. I walked up to the mirror and touched the soft, buttery fabric. "It's pretty." I jumped as Chris stepped behind me.

"I know," I whispered.

"Well, we should get going." He said, turned, and left. I stood there, alone as ever, in the dress of my dreams.

I sighed and looked at the price tag again. My phone buzzed. "Hello?"

"Put the cashier on. I need to know you bought the dress." Carmen ordered.

I sighed and walked up to the cashier. "Could you please tell my friend I just purchased this dress?" I asked. The female nodded; and said what I told her to say, into the phone. "There? Happy?" I asked Carmen and then hung up.

"Can't afford it?" The lady asked.

"Not even in my dreams." I mumbled, and my hand trailed down the silk fabric. "I was planning on spending $100 at the most. $300 is just...impossible. Thank - you for helping with the phone call." I whispered and started to back away.

Three one - hundred dollar bills landed on the counter. "I'll pick you up at seven." My mouth dropped as I looked from the money to Chris. The cashier smiled and slid the money into the cash register. She handed him the change, and he nodded his thanks.

"Chris! Did you seriously just buy me a $300 dress?!" I yelled. He thought about it and nodded. Then I surprised both of us and hugged him. "Thank - you so much, Chris." I mumbled into his rock hard chest.

He pulled away. "We should go...get lunch..." He mumbled, turned, and left. I waited for the lady to put the dress in the dress bag, and I ran after him.
