Chapter 1

Ahh, Memories

I sat in Littlefield Park in Atlanta, Georgia watching my sisters Alexa (13) and Athena (13) hanging out with their friends. Although the twins were old enough to just walk across the street to the park, my mother was extremely paranoid. I sat on the swings surveying the park. I was wearing this: polyvore.com/untitled/set?id=24355881. Just then a little girl wondered up to me.

"Excuse me, miss?" She said. She had shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes, and looked to be around 4 or 5.

"Yes sweetheart?" I replied.

"I've lost my mommy, can you help me find her?" She asked sweetly.

I smiled, I adored kids so much. Especially at this age. "Of course!" I said. I stood and picked her up. "What's your name?" I asked her.

"Jazmyne, and yours?" She smiled.

"Kassandra Claire, call me KC." I chuckled. "So where are you supposed to meet her if you're ever lost?"

"The ice cream place!" She laughed.

I smiled. "I know where that us." I said with a grin. As I walked with this girl, the more she seemed familiar. I couldn't place it, not one bit. Obviously she knew me, because any normal 4/5 year old would not approach any random looking stranger.

As we approached the ice cream place, Jazz jumped from my arms and ran to a woman who sat with four boys around my age. I smiled and walked up to the window of the ice cream place.

"Ally!" I shouted happily.

"KC!" She shrieked as she walked over to the window.

"Hi," I chuckled. "Can I get a cotton candy cone please?" I asked.

"Sure thing, chicken wing," She said before setting off to make my ice cream.

I leaned against the counter and continued my survey of the park. I was so out of it that I didn't hear Ally calling my name.

"Kassandra Claire Bennett!" Ally exclaimed.

I whipped my head around and looked at her. "Sorry," I chuckled.

"He's not coming back KC," she murmured. I took my ice cream cone.

"I know. But every day I just hope. . ." I sighed.

"You just hope he'll remember his roots but more importantly, you hope he'll remember you?" Ally finished for me.

"Got it right in one shot," I said. "Ally. . . I just. . . I just don’t get it. . . Why can't I get over him? I even still have dreams about him at times."

"I know, girl, I know. Are you, me, and the double A's still on for shopping tomorrow?" She asked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Yes ma'am," I chuckled "Well I should get going. Mom would have a cow if she heard I let the girls out of my sight." I said.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow girl," Ally smiled.

I walked back to my swing and began to get a flashback.

I picked up my phone and dialed Justin’s number.

Rrrriiiinnnnggg. Rrrriiiinnnnggg.

We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is invalid. Please hang up and try again.

I hung up and tears were streaming down my cheeks.

I called Ally.

"KC, what's wrong?" She asked.

"Ally, he left. He left without so much as a goodbye." I sobbed.

End of Flashback

I shook off the feeling of someone watching me that I got whenever I had a flashback moment.

I sighed and Alexa, Athena, and I went home.
