Chapter 4

I Don't Wanna Dance (Chapter 4)

I straightened my hair slowly, starring at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. I was surprisingly almost done. I was already dressed, and just needed to finish with my hair then put some makeup on. “ERIN! Let’s go already! You’re taking forever!” Vanessa yelled, pounding on the door. I tightened my fists. My eyes widened and I jumped, dropping the straightener. “OWWWW!” I screamed, grabbing my hand. I burned it on the straightener. It hurt like hell! I shoved my hand under the faucet and ran cold water over it. “Are you okay?” Vanessa asked through the door. “NO!” I yelled, she opened the door and gasped. “ERIN! Why’d you drop my straightener!” she yelled picking it up and turning it off. Oh, did I forget to mention that it was hers? I forgot mine, so I’ve been borrowing hers. “Because I burned my freaking hand!” I growled at her, she backed off. “Go get me some ice.” I said, she walked out of the bathroom then came back a few minutes later with what i wanted.
I took it and put it on my hand. I sighed as the cold ice soothed the burn. “Want me to finish your make up for you?” she asked “Fine, not that I really want to do this whole stupid date thing.” I grumbled. She put some eyeliner and mascara on me silently, while I held the ice on my hand. “Done.” She said “Thanks.” I muttered, she nodded and walked out, I followed her. I put the ice away and went over to Kyle; he was laying on one of the beds watching TV. “Bye baby.” I said, kissing his forehead. “Bye mommy.” He said, giving me a quick hug. I grabbed my heels and followed Vanessa out of the hotel room. I was wearing a black shirt that hung off my shoulders with a pair of skinny jeans. I was wearing a pair of bright pink heels with a necklace and bracelet to match them. Vanessa and I waited down in the lobby for Connor and Chad to come get us.
We went to a restaurant first. We ordered our food, then talked a little while we waited. “So Erin, what do you do for a living?” Connor asked, starting conversation. “I’m an Art Teacher.” I said “Oh, uh that’s cool.” He said, I turned away from him and started playing around with my phone. I had a text message from my 14-year-old sister Amy. I took a sip of my water as I read the text.

I spit my water out, spraying Vanessa who was sitting across from me. “WHAT!” I shouted, everyone’s eyes were on our table. “Erin…” Vanessa growled, I shoved my phone into her hands. She read the text over, her eyes widening. “Th-there weren’t even any paparazzi.” She gasped, I grabbed my phone back from her and texted Amy back. Are you sure it’s me? Aw who am I kidding, of course it’s me.
IDK why don’t you tell me? I mean, Kyle Ness and Kate are in some of the pics too
I slid my phone back into my pocket groaning. “What’s going on?” Chad asked “Nothing.” I sighed “Are you sure you okay?’ Connor asked, putting his hand on my shoulder, “Yeah,” I muttered, shrugging his hand off. The waitress came with our food.
After dinner the guys took us to some club. I seriously wasn’t in the mood for this, in fact, I just wanted to go back home, to Arizona. California seriously sucked so far. “Could you just try and have fun? Please.” Vanessa pleaded. “Why should I. So far LA has been anything BUT fun.” I growled, she frowned, I sighed. “Sorry Ness, but I’m really not in the mood for this.” I mumbled, she hugged me. “I know, I know.” She whispered. She pulled away and we walked into the club. The music was loud and people were everywhere dancing and mingling. Chad grabbed Vanessa and they headed over to the bar. Connor grabbed my hand and we followed them. I wanted to shove his hand away, but I didn’t want to seem rude.
“Can I buy you a drink?” he asked “Uh, just a water, thanks.” I said, he raised an eyebrow. “She doesn’t drink alcohol.” Vanessa explained “Why?” Connor asked “Afraid to get a little drunk?” he teased “Something like that…” I muttered “Pshh she hasn’t had a drink since like high school!” Vanessa giggled; I wanted to smack her. Connor looked at me shocked. “Seriously?” he asked, I blushed. “Wow.” He said “Why though?” he asked, damn you Vanessa! “I uh, really don’t want to talk about it.” I whispered, he finally laid off. He looked thoughtful suddenly, and I began to wonder what he was thinking. I drifted off into my own thoughts…

I was drunk. Then again, everyone at this party was drunk. A lot of people were even passed out on the ground. I looked around for either Kellan or Vanessa. I saw a girl making out with some dude, she looked kinda like Vanessa, but I couldn’t tell because her face was kinda covered. Someone grabbed me from around the waist; I resisted the urge to scream out loud. I turned my head, and sighed, it was only Kellan. “Are you ready to go?” he asked -he was drunk too- I nodded. “Yeah…let’s go to my house.” I said, my words slurring slightly. “’Kay.” He mumbled, and we left. My parents just happened to be out of town, with my little sister with them. And then Kate was in College, so she wasn’t around. We had the house to ourselves…

I shook my head slowly. That night was the last time I’d ever gotten drunk, 7 years ago. Why? Well, because I regretted that night, because that’s how I got pregnant with Kyle, at the age 17. I don’t regret having Kyle; no he was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I just thought I was too young. I wasn’t ready to be a mom at the time. I still had plans for my future, plans that didn’t really involve a son. All I know is that if I hadn’t had Kyle, I would most likely still have been with Kellan.
I would have gone to LA with him like he had wanted me to so many years ago. But I couldn’t, because I was pregnant, but Kellan didn’t know that. He didn’t, and still doesn’t know that he has a son. I didn’t tell him because I wanted him to go follow his dreams, and look where he is today! I had this feeling that if I told him he wouldn’t have gone to LA, he would have stayed in Arizona with me to help with Kyle, I didn’t want that for him though, so that’s why I never told him. Kate had told me earlier today that I should tell Kellan. I don’t want to…I’m too scared.

“Erin.” Connor was waving his hand in my face, trying to get my attention. “Whoa, sorry.” I said, he smiled “It’s okay, here.” He said, handing me my water. “Thanks.” I said, and took a sip, it tasted…funny? I shrugged and took another sip.
I was on the dancefloor with Vanessa. The song Déjà vu by 3OH!3 was playing. We LOVED 3OH!3. We were singing along and dancing.

After the song was over, they came over. “Care to dance?” Connor asked me, a grin on his face, I nodded, feeling a little dizzy. I felt…weird. Full of energy, completely alive! I didn’t recognize the next song, but I danced to it anyway. Connor was grinding up against me, and for some strange reason I didn’t stop him, I danced with him. Eventually I started feeling sick and I stopped dancing. “I don’t wanna dance anymore.” I said, heading over to the bar, grabbing an empty stool and sitting on it. “You okay?’ Connor asked, I shook my head. “You wanna leave? We can head back to my place.” He said, grinning with a wink. Ew…I jumped off the stool and ran to the bathroom. I couldn’t make it to a stall before I started puking my guts out. A few girls in the bathroom ran out, disgusted. “Erin, are you okay?” It was Vanessa, but she sounded distant, I turned she was right in front of me…that’s odd. My vision started to blur, and I felt lightheaded.
Slowly things started to go black......
