Interesting History

by: Kapuki

Forget about all those dates, battles & boring people - lists & lists to memorize. I love history - not history classes, because they never teach you the good stuff. The royal treachery, the peasant riots, the polygamous kings & bloodthirsty hellions. Over the years I've amassed a good amount of knowledge about most kinds of history, ancient being one of my definite favorites, but I'll address a more general history here. So you may have taken history. But do you know what really happened?

  1. 1

In ________, 1888, Jack the Ripper claimed 5 women's lives in one of the most grisly serial murder cases of all time. He was never found.

  2. 2

Cleopatra VII Philopator is famous, among other things, for having 'ties' with a very historically famous man. Some say men, and some argue over which man it even is. What's the truth?

  3. 3

Why did Columbus 'name' the Native Americans 'Indians?'

  4. 4

Which ghastly plague is the nursery song 'Ring Around the Rosy' referring to? Just so you know, three of these answers are bogus. :o

  5. 5

Henry the VIII, of England, was told by the Catholic Church that it wasn't right to divorce his (first) wife, Catherine, who was faithful to him. (He wanted to marry another woman.) What did Henry do?
