Than Matt, too, which'll be interesting. I am completely devastated that Matt is leaving, though. He wasn't technically my first Doctor, but he was the first Doctor I watched on live television and actually watched with commercials. And he'll be the first Doctor I have to watch leave on live television. Anyway, Peter Capaldi is going to get a warm welcome from me.
I think he's a wonderful person, and I can't wait to see what his version of the Doctor has in store! I'm kind of surprised they chose him since he was in other episode of Doctor Who-y things, but since he loves Doctor Who I get it! I'm also glad he's older because it will hopefully show a more fatherly side of the Doctor, but I know people are going to fall in love with him. It's difficult not to fall in love with the Doctor, whatever face he may have. I think he'll have more intense moments...
I don't really know him so it'll be completely new to me!
I've only seen him in Torchwood before they announced him as the next Doctor (even then I needed to look up one of the Torchwood episodes to remember his character). But I've watched a few other things he's been in and think he'll do a fine job as the Doctor - I don't know what some people are so put off by him. Plus, he's Scottish! and we've only had two Scottish Doctors.
I'm a bit bothered. I mean, I thought that the Doctor's thing was getting younger each regeneration, so I was a little confused. Also the fact that he's been on both Doctor Who and Torchwood before, it just doesn't seem all that great to me. But I suppose I shouldn't judge quite yet because you never know.
I dunno I've never heard of him before, I guess I'll just have to see how he turns out, he looks doctor worthy though
I'm so glad that they're taking a break from the young doctors. xD
Other than that- I guess I'd have to wait until I actually see him acting, before I decide.
I'm not happy with the choice at all. I don't like his acting style and the characters he usually plays - which, if that's how the new Doctor is going to be, it'll be another couple of seasons I'm not watching. And yes, people who want me to love him, I have seen him in more things than the few episodes he played in earlier Doctor Who seasons. I just can't like him, and I'm really disappointed that this is going to be the new Doctor Who. :(
I think he seems like a very sweet guy! Maybe the fact that he is in Fires of Pompeii will jog there memories that KAREN GILLIAN-AKA AMY POND was in that episode!
I'm surprised it was someone who was in so many episodes of Torchwood...however I am glad to see the Doctor gain a little age again. I've seen him in a handful of roles so him as the Doctor will be a fairly new experience for me. I think some people are angry about his age because they like to swoon over the recent actors (not all but I've already seen people on tumblr bash his looks)...I guess people forget that the Doctor started as a man in his mid to late-40s (Hartnell).
