The age to drink here is 18.
I disagree with the choices: I don't think the issue is the irresponsibility of teens, but the fact that we have too much responsibility at this age. The current age allows people to age into the habit while they're already set on a path in their education and careers, not in that formative stage between high school and college/employment. The corrupting influence of alcohol would serve as a distraction and a derailment during that extremely important transition were the drinking age lowered.
Okay here is my opinion: I think that at 18 the human mind is still a child, I think that even laws for driving and war and all the responsible stuff should be at least 20. And the reason I think most teens are saying, "Hell yeah change it to 18." Is because they think it'll be just fun and games and they're not think with their logical side they're thinking with their fun side. Change it but I think it'd be a stupid idea.
If in a society alcoholism becomes prevalent as well as alcohol related accidents then I agree it should be banned...and if not it shouldn't be sold publicly.
If you are fighting in the military, you are serving your country. If you are voting for government officials, you are serving your country. If you are drinking, you are hurting yourself. At 18, you are most likely NOT a responsible adult. Little while ago, a man was killed while he was in his YARD because of an underage drunk driver. Now his daughter has no father. With that said, people already take drugs which are far worse, not like we can monitor teens and stop them from drinking...
In Finland the legal drinking age is 18 but you can't buy alcohol with more than 22% ABV from liquor stores until you turn 20. However, there's no such limit in bars, clubs, etc. Similarly some clubs may have age restrictions higher than 18. It works for us just fine.
In a lot of places the drinking age is 18. But I still put no. In America for the most part at age 18 kids are still in high school.... you don't need to be drinking.
I think in some places' the age is 18.
No, it's 21 everywhere.
...sorry, 21 everywhere in the US.
I think it should be banned, ti's technically a drug, and it kills and harms a lot of people. But it won't be banned, since it's basically impossible.
It's 21 for health reasons, people. Your brain is still developing at eighteen, and alcohol will mess with that, besides you're at greater risk for alcohol poisoning. So whatever you think about responsibility, it shouldn't matter.
21 is alright. I don't want my 18 year old friends' breath to smell rotten.
